When Robbie Hart - Adam Sandler’s character in The Wedding Singer - realizes Drew Barrymore’s character is on the same plane, he hatches a plan with Billy Idol and the flight crew. Idol announces in-flight entertainment via the intercom. Sandler then proceeds to lip-synch “Grow Old with You,” a song he co-wrote for the film. It’s incredibly sweet with a dash of Sandler’s trademark humor. It’s been one of my go-to tunes for both anniversary and Valentine’s Day singing telegrams for ages. I sang it when my dad proposed to my stepmom. I sang it when surprising a longtime customer at her wedding reception, and was surprised myself when wedding guests joined me and sang along. So we decided to record a cover version. Mexico-born guitarist El Javi produced it and my duet partner Lex sang backup vocals. Mixing and mastering was done by DVLP Academy’s Drew Dugan.
